Estate Sale Time Capsule
Circa 1955 Student Snare 99% as it was then. This time capsule snare came out of an estate sale in upstate NY. Metal shell is 13X4. Nickel plated. I bought it because it was so clean and original.
1 tension rod & nut replaced with period correct rod & regular nut. If I didn't tell you, you might not notice it. Looks like it came right out of the 1955 Slingerland catalog. Original "white" skin top and "clear" bottom heads (1955 Catalog Description) are marked Slingerland, as is the throw off. Bottom head has a small tear where the snares cross it, so it's not playable. The metal body, rims, and tension rods are in fine condition, with a nice patina on the nickel. I left it just as I found it, because it looks so cool with the original heads. See pictures.
